The BlaCk Yorkshireman Collection x Chiedu Oraka
The BlaCk YOrkshireman collection is a collaboration collection celebrating both Chiedu’s progress so far but also touching on the unique experience of black people growing up in the north and Yorkshire in particular but also that it is something that we can be proud of.
The limited edition collection consists of 100% cotton twill unisex utility vests, 100% organic cotton unisex tees in 2 colourways, cotton-elastane women’s cropped tops in 2 colourways and an accompanying drawstring bucket/fisherman style hat.
The logo design consists of a blacked out/reversed Yorkshire Rose representing ‘The Black Yorkshireman’ himself and many others too.
The writing below the icon reads ‘The BlaCk YOrkshireman’ with the ‘C’ and the ‘O’ capitalised to signify the initials of the artist.
The ‘C’ and ‘O’ are also coloured in Green with the rest of the logo in white paying homage to the green and white of Nigeria, his motherland’s flag but also in keeping with the white of the original Yorkshire Rose.
The font was picked to give that old English feel to further tie in to the Yorkshire/historic theme, and finally the positioning of the writing below the icon resemble the stalk and base/pot to a flower or plant, or in this case a Rose.
The inner neck print reads 2 messages of encouragement; Celebrate Progress and C.E.C representing one of The Black Yorkshireman’s key releases on the come up, all in praise to the council estate confidence that has taken him to the top of his local scene and much further. We know there’s much more to come from him and we hope that everyone can take on this mindset to help them in whatever it is they’re pursuing too.
